Appearance: Very tall, lanky. He has messy, wavy dark hair, leaning closer to black. His eyes are a mix of crimson and brown. He normally wraps his body tight in bandages, mostly over his limbs, torso, and neck.

Personality answers:

-Who in your character's canon influenced the most growth in your character? What do they think about this character?: Unfortunately, Chuuya Nakahara. Though Dazai will never admit it. Their relationship is a bit of a paradox. A rivalry laced with devotion. Chuuya has constantly challenged Dazai. Not in the best ways, granted. Dazai manipulated Chuuya’s ex-gang into stabbing him with rat poison and trying to kill him, before manipulating him into joining the Mafia (he threatened to kill all of them unless Chuuya joined up). From there, they became executives of the Mafia around the same time, their abilities work hand in hand. Chuuya cannot control his Corrupted state so only Dazai can nullify it and bring him back down to earth. Chuuya was the first thing Dazai said was worth trying to live for.

-What would it take to truly upset your character, enough that they would act upon their feelings? Are they the sort to forgive?: It takes more than pain to upset Dazai. He’s affluent in suffering, everybody else’s and his own. He uses people, emotions. He has a few hang ups and boundaries in that regard though. It means permanently breaking something he let himself get caught up in and care about. And not just a little cut, a true violation of something he tried his hardest to protect. A person, Chuuya or Oda comes to mind. When those two have been caught in the crossfire, he has acted irrationally and come to despise the perpetrators. Oda unfortunately died, which caused Dazai to completely reshape his personality and future going forward, to better match the ideals Oda held. “Save the orphans, help people”. It’s a mantra he lives by now. An ex friend of his, Ango, was involved in Oda’s death. Dazai rigged a car to crash into their shared vehicle while driving and cut Ango’s seatbelt hoping he would meet a grisly end. He has the capacity for forgiveness. But it’s a hesitant type, one that he would rather fake. Real forgiveness requires the other party understanding what they did, truly understanding. Dazai is not abve taking measures to make sure they feel the consequences of their actions in varying ways.



What does your character think about physical appearances? Are they the sort to meticulously primp themselves, or could they not care less?: On surface level, Dazai could give a hoot about physical appearances. He drapes himself in wrinkly clothes, dirty bandages and his hair is always disheveled. Always looking like he just rolled out of a nap, or a river. Beneath that laziness is a little calculation. He knows exactly what his image projects. All part of a carefully crafted facade to keep people guessing (except sometimes he really just doesn’t care either. But it sounds more fun that way, right?)



What is your character most afraid of? There is no fear of death from Dazai.He flirts with it daily, much like an old friend. What terrifies him most is living. Living long enough to see the results of his actions, feeling things, the yawning emptiness that reveals who he’s lost. No amount of schemes or laughter could ever hope to stifle it. He fears connection, because it goes hand in hand with vulnerability. He is getting better at it, but it’s something that will always be present. He doesn’t believe he deserves it, however. He is terrified of pain. He simply says he hates it, but the deeper pains are the worst.

Powers/Abilities:
-No Longer Human: His ability cancels out all other abilities through touch. This power works if others are touching him, or he touches others. It does not need to be skin on skin contact, it works through fabric or something his adversary may be holding as well. It does not spare him from normal physical injuries, gunshots, knives, etc. unless they are specifically a power or ability. He can and will get hurt.
-Dazai is extremely intelligent. He works as a Detective, and once was a Mafia Executive. He relies on his mind being sharp to predict outcomes, and solve cases. He can pick up information from the smallest of clues. This is not a special ability, just an extra sharp mind. With this comes the skillset to negotiate others into his desired outcomes. He reads people, judges a situation and tries to manipulate it in his favor. A man of a thousand masks, he can adopt any personality to appease somebody else or sympathize with them if it will get him what he wants.
-He is not skilled in hand to hand combat, only really able to keep up with his (ex)partner, Chuuya Nakahara. Because he knows his partner so well, he can predict most of his moves. He relies more on his intelligence than physical skills. Most of his physical prowess lends to lock picking, swiping things off people sneakily, etc.
-He can manipulate his heart rate. He has a device that was planted on his vitals in a previous stint where he was imprisoned in a high security facility for gifted individuals. With this, he can also use it as code to communicate with one of his ex-friends, who is an intelligence agent with the government.
